The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was established in 1982 and has recognized 8,500 schools since its inception. The program recognizes schools with exemplary programs following a rigorous application and approval process. This year’s cohort of 342 public and non-public schools includes seventeen schools from the State of New Jersey.
Non-public Blue Ribbon School applications are first sent to (The Council for American Private Education (CAPE) who reviews and nominates up to fifty schools from across the country each year and advances those applications to the US Department of Education. In order to even apply, student achievement in English and mathematics must be among the highest in the country (top 15%), as measured on a nationally normed test. HCA Terra Nova Summary
