January 17, 2018
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Please find included with this letter, the 2018 Catholic Schools Week schedule. As you will see the students will take part in a number of activities throughout the week. Parents are invited to attend our opening prayer service at 8:15 on Monday, January 29th, as well as The Christopher Widjaja Spelling Bee on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. This year, the winner of our school-wide spelling be will be entered in the Jersey Journal Hudson County Spelling Bee, whose winner will be entered in the National Scripps Spelling Bee in Washington DC!
On Thursday, at 9:30, we will have a special Blue Ribbon Assembly and parents are welcome to attend. That afternoon our middle school student teams will present their STEM projects to the younger classes in preparation for the evening STEM Fair, which parents are invited to attend. The student projects, based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, will be judged by science and math professionals and engineering students from Stevens Institute. The three top projects will advance to the Archdiocesan STEM Expo in March.
Finally, on Friday, February 2nd, parents are invited to attend the Religion Bee in our gym at 8:30 and our culminating Mass at 10:00AM in St. Ann Church.
We are still in need of volunteers to speak at Masses on Saturday, January 27th and Sunday, January 28th and at our Career Day on Monday, January 29th. If you would like to speak at one of the Masses and/or take part in our Career Day program, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Progress reports for the second trimester will be sent home on Friday. Along with the progress report there will be a note for parents in grades K-8 to schedule a parent/teacher conference. The conferences will take place on Monday, February 12th from 6:00-8:00PM and Tuesday, February 13th from 1:00-3:00PM. The conferences were not originally included on the yearly calendar, but are now on the calendar on our website. Please note that because of afternoon conferences, Tuesday, February 13th will be a half-day. There will be no afterschool activities that day, but there will be aftercare.
The annual Home and School Association Texas Hold’ Em Poker Night is shaping up to be another spectacular event. With the addition of Eventbrite, guests can register and pay online right from our website! If you have not done so already, take a look at the packet on our site to see the various ways you can take part. Please join us on the 26th for a night of great fun and camaraderie.
International night is right around the corner and the flyers about the night went home today. International Night has become one of our greatest events and this year’s edition will not disappoint. February 9th is the Friday before Ash Wednesday, so we can eat our way around the world without having to ask for dispensation!
As always, God bless you and thank you for your kind support.
