January 8, 2020

Dear Parents,

As you will recall, at the time following the tragic events in Jersey City in December, our school joined other schools in the area in a “Blue Dress Down Day” to support the family of Jersey City Detective, Joseph Seals.  I indicated in my December letter that we will hold another “Blue Dress Down Day” on Friday, January 10th, at which time you are invited to make a donation that we will forward to Detective Seals’ wife.  Any amount will be appreciated.  If you wish to use a check, please make it payable to Hoboken Catholic Academy with Detective Seals on the memo line.  Once all of the money is collected we will issue a school check on behalf of our entire school community.  Fr. Remo has indicated that St. Ann church will match any amount that we raise!

There is going to be a change in the days K-8 Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled.  Progress reports for the second Trimester will go home on January 17th.  Conferences were originally scheduled to take place in mid-February, but have been moved to Thursday, January 23rd from 5:30-8:30 and Friday, January 24th from 1:00-3:00PM to be more in line with the progress report distribution date.  There will be a half day on Friday, January 24th

Because of the change, January 31st,  the Friday of Catholic Schools Week, will be a full day of school.  Friday, February 14th, originally scheduled as the second day of conferences, will remain a half day for students to accommodate parents who have made travel plans for the long weekend.  The staff luncheon, originally scheduled to culminate Catholic Schools Week will take place that afternoon.

Finally, there is still a need for parent volunteers to speak on Career Day, on Monday, January 17th from 9:00-11:00 AM and at the weekend masses in our Parish churches.  Please email me at mmcgrath@hobokencatholic.org if you are able to speak at one or both of the events.

Thanks, and God bless you all.

Sincerely,

Matthew McGrath
