Dear Parents and Guardians,

As our teachers and students prepare to leave for our well-deserved Easter recess there is much to share with you about what lies ahead at HCA.  On Friday evening, April 13th we will gather at Maritime Parc in Jersey City for our annual Spring Gala.  Thanks to Alanna Kauffman and Tatiana Joyner and everyone who has contributed in any way in preparation for the Gala and in advance to all who will attend and contribute once again.  Our Spring Galas is indeed a special evening.  The teachers and I appreciate your amazing generosity and support for all that we do.

I am pleased to inform you that we have received the final clearance from the archdiocese to begin the lighting program I spoke about earlier in the year.  Future Energy Solutions will replace or upgrade all of our lighting fixtures and maintain them for fifteen years at no upfront cost to the school.  They will be paid over time through a portion of the energy savings we realize each month by moving to energy efficient LED lighting.  Work will take place on weekends and after hours and will be completed before we break for summer vacation.

We will soon enter field trip season and parents are reminded that all volunteer requirements must be in place to chaperone a trip.  Please make certain that Protecting God’s Children is completed and current and the volunteer application and the ministerial agreement forms, available online, are completed and on file in the office.

The Security Ad Hoc Committee met last night and discussed a number of options to explore to enhance or school’s security profile.  We will attain cost projections and research the various options discussed.  That group is scheduled to meet again on May 2nd following the Home and School Association meeting.  Following that meeting the group plans to make their recommendations, which I will share with you when they are finalized.

The first ever HCA Talent takeover is scheduled for Friday, April 20th at 6:30 PM.  The student rehearsals are going well and the evening, I’m sure, will be great!  Thanks to our student council officers, Nanki Nagpaul, Amelia Gallagher, Julianna Griesbauer and RJ Fiore and parents, Kristi Alves and Roz Grant for putting this amazing event together.

On April 18th, the cosmos will come to HCA.  A planetarium will be set up in our gym and students at all grade levels will take part in a day-long program where they will learn about the constellations in the night sky during the various seasons.

Finally, on behalf of our entire Hoboken Catholic Academy family, please enjoy a blessed Easter and a wonderful Easter break.  As always, thank you for your continued support and amazing kindness.

God bless each of you and your wonderful families.

Sincerely,
Matthew McGrath
