Grade 3 has begun their cycle of STEM classes this week. We have started with identifying recyclable and non-recyclable forms of waste. Students were shown videos on each to provide background dealing with the topic. From there, we proceeded to learn about landfills and how they are created. The students identified types of waste and how the recyclable materials can be used in other things. We completed worksheets together to further enhance the content material.
Students will collect various forms of trash to create something from the materials. They will be able to create sculptures, animals, robots, usable vehicles based on the choices they make. They will be working with a partner to complete the task. It should be very interesting to see their creations when they are completed.
I'm sure this will be a very interactive and fun project which will maintain high interest levels among all the students. As we progress, I'll keep you updated on the students' progress..
