Ms. Jeannette Symmonds

Hello, my name is Ms. Jeannette Symmonds and I am one of Hoboken Catholic's Pre- K3 teacher this year. As a teacher my goal is to educate the whole child help them as life-long learner, and make a positive contribution to society.

Teachers are leaders that are charged to make informed and reflective decisions in how to teach students. As a manager of instruction, I will make certain my students have an environment conducive for learning. I will be a close observer of my students so that I am aware of how they receive and process information. As a communicator, I will make certain that families are aware of what is happening in the classroom from week to week as well as how they can be a part of their child's education with newsletters and conferences. As theories and practices change, I will keep abreast of that information by collaborating with fellow teachers, participating in workshops, and taking classes.

Students will be active learners. They will be given self help tools, a foundation in language and math skills and introduced to Christian values. It is important that the classroom environment support the academic, social, physical, and emotional needs of their learning development. My classroom environment will be inviting as well as organized and well-managed. The environment will have a variety of learning areas; places where students can construct their own learning, areas that promote group interaction and discussion, and places in which they can learn independently and free from distraction. The classroom will have interactive displays as well as places for students to display their work. There will also be rules and guidelines for the classroom to promote order, respect and safety.   I am looking forward to taking on the this high importance. It takes a dedicated and caring teacher with a variety of methods, strategies, and assessments and a well-managed environment that promotes learning and understanding. I look forward to taking on this role.
