Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is great to have our children back at school. We have certainly gotten off to a fantastic start. As we begin another school year under sunny skies, we are reminded that many children and their families are not so fortunate. The devastation caused by hurricanes in the Caribbean, Texas, and Florida is overwhelming. For those families who were in Hoboken during Super Storm Sandy, I’m sure you understand all too well, the disruptions to normalcy such catastrophic events can cause. Many people lost their lives and many more lost their homes and virtually everything they have.
We have received a request from the National Catholic Educational Association to participate in their “Student to Student –A Catholic School Response to Hurricane Harvey.“ In addition, at the request of the United States Council of Bishops, there were special collections at each of the masses this weekend and parishes and Catholic schools across the country are contributing to the relief efforts.
To that end, Hoboken Catholic Academy will hold a special Hurricane Relief Dress Down Day on Friday, September 15th. All of the proceeds will be sent to support the relief efforts in Texas and Florida.
$5 is the suggested donation, however, please pay whatever amount you would like to contribute. Coupons will not be accepted for this special dress down day.
Please keep the victims of these horrific weather events and the brave first responders who have risked their own lives to help them, in your prayers.
Together, lets thank God for the blessings of our beautiful children and the promise of a new school year.
God bless you and thank you in advance for your generous response to this request.
